Emily Mottram, Owner/Architect

It all started when…

Emily started Mottram Architecture in 2009 when the market was terrible and it was considered gainfully unemployed to be an Architect. She is an architect, building science educator, and dog mom who loves the outdoors and a great book in a cozy chair on a rainy afternoon.

Sara Bernate - Designer

Sara joined the Mottram Architecture team after relocating to Freeport, Maine with her husband and two-year-old daughter. She is passionate about the built world and preserving our planet for her daughter’s generation. Sara graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz, with a combined degree in Environmental Studies and Biology, before going on to study Interior Architecture and Design at UC Berkeley Extension. She has more than 10 years of design experience; working closely with contractors and artisans to help bring clients’ visions to life.

Jim Robbins - Architect

Jim and Emily have been working together on various projects since she moved to Maine in 2007 and they worked in the same architecture office in Portland, Maine. Jim is the lead architect on many of Mottram Architecture’s projects and brings valuable experience to the team.

Frank Mottram - Production

Frank joined the Mottram Architecture team in 2022 after 18 years in the retail construction industry. He has a degree in mechanical engineering and his attention to detail is ideally suited for BIM modeling and production for the team.

Sara Brandt - Social Media and Administration

Sara has been helping the Mottram Architecture team with administrative tasks, social media, and marketing since 2018. Sara is a valuable member of our digital team helping us get the word out about the great projects, presentations, and events our team participates in.
